[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Sejong University announced that it will accept applications for the 2021 academic year early admission until 5 p.m. on the 28th. The number of early admission spots is a total of 1,711, accounting for 70.9% of the total admission quota.
The biggest features of Sejong University's early admission are the expansion of the comprehensive admission quota and the reduction of the academic record admission quota.
The 2021 Sejong University early admission is broadly divided into four categories: student record academic track (Outstanding Student, Rural Area Student, Defense System Engineering, Aviation System Engineering), student record comprehensive track (Creative Talent, Equal Opportunity, West Sea 5 Islands Student, Social Contribution and Caregiver, Specialized High School Graduate Employed), essay excellence, and practical/skill (Practical Excellence, Arts and Physical Education Talent) tracks.
To reduce the burden on applicants, Sejong University does not set minimum CSAT (College Scholastic Ability Test) score requirements for all tracks except the Essay Excellence track, Defense System Engineering special track, and Aviation System Engineering special track.
Among the student record academic tracks, the Outstanding Student track reflects 100% of the academic record grades and plans to recruit 402 students, which is 58 fewer than the previous year. For the Defense System Engineering and Aviation System Engineering special tracks, 28 and 17 new students will be selected respectively in this year's early admission. The first stage of the selection process is based on 100% academic record grades, and the second stage consists of the first stage results and an evaluation conducted by the Army/Air Force Headquarters.
The student record comprehensive track consists of Creative Talent (547 students), Equal Opportunity (63 students), West Sea 5 Islands Student (3 students), Social Contribution and Caregiver (20 students), and Specialized High School Graduate Employed special track (2 within quota, 107 outside quota). Since eligibility criteria vary by track, careful review before applying is necessary.
The student record comprehensive track conducts document evaluation focused on school activities based on submitted documents such as student records and self-introduction letters, comprehensively assessing academic ability, major suitability, creativity and potential for development, and character.
Afterward, interviews are conducted to select successful candidates. For the College of Software Convergence, an in-depth interview is held on the day, consisting of a presentation on a given topic and Q&A linked to the document evaluation. Other colleges conduct non-face-to-face interviews (uploading interview videos).
The method of reflecting student records in academic tracks is as follows: for humanities, Korean, English, Mathematics, Social Studies; for natural sciences, Korean, English, Mathematics, Science; for arts and physical education, Korean and English are reflected. All tracks apply weighting based on average rank grades without additional weighting by grade or subject.
