According to the international statistics site Worldometer, as of 5:25 PM on the 27th (local time), the cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths worldwide was recorded at 1,000,175.
This marks nine months since the World Health Organization (WHO) officially received a report on December 31 last year about an unidentified pneumonia spreading in Wuhan, China.
The United States has the highest cumulative death toll at 209,230, followed by Brazil (141,441), India (94,971), and Mexico (71,243).
South Korea ranks 78th among 215 countries and territories worldwide compiled by Worldometer, with a cumulative death toll of 401.
