[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Hwang Choi-hyunju] Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 27th that the live commerce sales of local agricultural specialties conducted through Lotte Department Store's application 'Lotte 100LIVE' achieved great success.

During the live commerce broadcast held for about 30 minutes from 5 PM on the 25th at Lotte Department Store Changwon branch, Changwon agricultural specialties such as Taechu persimmons and persimmon kimchi were completely sold out. This event was organized to provide product promotion opportunities to local farmers struggling due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while allowing consumers to purchase excellent products at affordable prices.

Live commerce is a non-face-to-face new distribution method that combines shopping and communication, where buyers exchange information about products through chat with the host, seller, and other buyers while making purchases.

In particular, Mayor Heo Seong-moo of Changwon appeared in person to actively promote and boost sales of Changwon persimmons. The Changwon agricultural specialties live commerce quickly surpassed 10,000 views and ranked high on '100LIVE,' one of Korea's top three live channels, achieving a dual effect of sales and promotion.

Mayor Heo emphasized, "Going forward, we will strengthen non-face-to-face marketing based on Changwon Mall, a comprehensive shopping mall for agricultural specialties, and actively introduce new distribution methods. We will also put more effort into supporting farmers and small business owners who are struggling due to the economic downturn."
