'Jesuyong Hansangcharim' Sale at Stores Nationwide Until the 1st of Next Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Lotte Mart announced on the 27th that it will sell ‘Jesuyong Hansangcharim’ (full table setting for ancestral rites) at all stores nationwide until the first day of Chuseok, next month.
The newly introduced ‘Jesuyong Hansangcharim’ is characterized by focusing on traditional holiday dishes that require a lot of preparation, such as traditional japchae, nabak kimchi, and fermented skate salad. Unlike previous products that were limited to some items like sanjeok (skewered meat) or jeon (pancakes), this selection is broader. The products were chosen through a vote among employees three months before launch.
The Jesuyong Hansangcharim products can be purchased at Lotte Mart’s ready-to-eat food corner. Representative items include ‘Traditional Japchae’ topped with plenty of garnish, ‘Spicy Nabak Kimchi’ that cuts through the greasiness of holiday food, ‘Jesuyong Busejogi Jjim’ (steamed yellow croaker for ancestral rites) which is easy to eat without fishy smell, and three-colored songpyeon made with domestic rice, pumpkin, and mugwort. These products are available at most stores nationwide until Chuseok day.
This is also the first holiday product introduced since the establishment of Lotte Mart’s ‘Food Innovation Center’ (FIC). FIC was newly established in March this year as a direct organization under the CEO to develop foods with sufficient value as meals, staffed by professional chefs, food researchers, and brand managers. The first result from FIC was ‘Yorihada Ganghwa Seomgyetang’ (cooking-style Ganghwa island chicken soup), launched in June, which sold over 10,000 units within 15 days and more than 60,000 units in two months. In July, they also introduced the ‘Meal Signature Store’ with an intuitively designed store concept.
Ryu Kyung-woo, head of Lotte Mart’s Meal Innovation Division, said, “For Chuseok 2020, FIC chefs planned and presented a variety of holiday foods. We expect that not only customers who do not return to their hometowns but also single-person households will be able to enjoy the holiday atmosphere through Lotte Mart’s Hansangcharim.”
