Imsil-gun Provides Second Emergency Living Expense Support for Transportation Workers

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil County is providing a second round of emergency livelihood support to taxi and charter bus drivers who are experiencing economic difficulties due to reduced operations caused by a decline in passengers amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

The county announced on the 25th that it will invest a total budget of 37 million KRW to support taxi and charter bus drivers with Imsil Love Gift Certificates before the Chuseok holiday.

The support targets 73 transportation workers based in Imsil County, with each taxi and charter bus driver receiving 500,000 KRW worth of Imsil Love Gift Certificates.

Transportation workers can apply by submitting the required documents, including an application form, to the Economic and Transportation Division of Imsil County Office. After verification, the support will be promptly provided. Considering the financial difficulties, the county plans to distribute the support to those who complete the application process before the Chuseok holiday.

Earlier in May, the county provided emergency livelihood support of 800,000 KRW per person to taxi, charter bus, and freight transportation workers who were struggling due to decreased transportation income caused by the COVID-19 impact.

The first round of emergency livelihood support was given to 346 taxi, charter bus, and freight transportation workers facing financial hardship due to reduced passengers and cargo volume amid the regional spread and prolongation of COVID-19.

Additionally, ahead of the Chuseok holiday, the county invested approximately 153 million KRW of county funds to provide Imsil Love Gift Certificates to 1,242 local residents suffering from financial difficulties.

County Governor Shim Min said, “The transportation industry is noticeably shrinking due to the regional spread and prolongation of COVID-19, which is very concerning. I hope this emergency support will provide some relief to taxi and charter bus drivers.”
