Kim Jong-in: "If North Korea Apologizes, It Should Do So Directly... Why Make President Moon Do It?"
Han Ki-ho: "Treating Jeontongmun Like a Sacred Relic... What Country's National Security Chief Is This?"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] On the 26th, the People Power Party held the first meeting of the task force (TF) investigating the truth behind North Korea's shooting and burning of our citizens, sharply targeting the government and ruling party.
Kim Jong-in, the emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, criticized at the TF's first meeting held at the National Assembly that North Korean State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong-un's apology regarding the Yeonpyeong Island missing public official shooting incident was insincere, saying, "If North Korea is going to apologize, they should do it themselves. Why make President Moon Jae-in read the apology? Is there any sincerity? Is our government a processing agency for North Korea's orders?"
Chairman Kim said, "They said all communication channels with North Korea were cut off, but how did they exchange letters? It is questionable," adding, "If the Moon Jae-in administration suddenly tries to cover up this incident with a traditional letter from North Korea and an insincere apology, it will be a self-destructive act that digs the grave of the regime."
Chairman Kim pointed out, "This brutal incident is a sacrilegious military provocation where the North Korean military shot our unarmed citizens and horrifically burned the bodies," and said, "The government still seems to be ignoring the seriousness of the situation."
He added, "Even after seeing the notification full of shameless denial of responsibility, the Blue House and the ruling party are busy praising and defending Chairman Kim," and stated, "The truth about President Moon's 47 hours must be revealed to settle the controversy over his qualifications as commander-in-chief." He also said, "Our party will use all means to hold North Korea heavily accountable," and "The truth must be uncovered through the International Criminal Court and punished under international law."
Han Ki-ho, a member of the People Power Party and head of the TF team, sharply criticized, "The traditional letter sent to the Blue House by North Korea was full of excuses and fictitious situations completely different from what the Ministry of National Defense has grasped," and asked, "Which country's security chief is the Blue House National Security Office chief who reads such a traditional letter as if it were a sacred treasure?"
Han warned, "I warn President Moon and ruling party politicians, who are confused by the two-page traditional letter sent by North Korea, to come to their senses," and said, "It is disgusting to be grateful for an apology from the murderer who killed my own flesh and blood."
Han emphasized, "The act of shooting and killing unarmed drifting South Korean citizens cannot be justified for any reason and should be condemned as murderers," and added, "Even now, a joint truth investigation between the South and North should be conducted, the bodies should be found and returned to the bereaved families, and the murderers should be appropriately punished."
