Gwangju City Recruits 942 Participants for Local Job Projects Gwangju City Hall

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 25th that it will recruit participants for the 'COVID-19 Overcome Regional Job Project' from the 28th to October 7th.

This project was prepared to provide direct jobs to employment-vulnerable groups experiencing economic difficulties due to COVID-19 and to help stabilize their livelihoods.

The number of recruits is a total of 942, including 521 for school quarantine and environmental cleaning support, 95 for traditional market quarantine, 96 for industrial complex environmental maintenance, 55 for river environment maintenance, 35 for public sports facility quarantine, and 140 to fill vacancies in the second phase of the citizen public job project.

Applicants must be Gwangju citizens aged 18 or older with the ability to work as of the announcement date (28th). Citizens in need of livelihood support due to the economic downturn can apply regardless of income or property.

However, priority will be given to employment-vulnerable groups such as low-income households requiring urgent livelihood support, persons with disabilities, long-term unemployed for more than six months, and those who have experienced job loss or business closure due to COVID-19.

Those wishing to participate should bring their ID and related documents and apply by visiting the City Hall Civil Service Office, the district office or administrative welfare center in their jurisdiction.

The final selection announcement will be made on November 2nd, and selected candidates will be individually notified at their workplace.

If the number of applicants falls short of the recruitment plan for each project, applicants for other projects and lower-priority waiting candidates may be assigned to similar projects with their consent.

The working period is about two months from November 5th to December 24th, and working hours are 20 to 40 hours per week. However, replacement personnel will work only for the remaining period of the respective project.

Lee Jeong-sam, head of the Gwangju City Citizen Public Job Support Center, said, "I hope this job will provide temporary economic help to citizens struggling due to COVID-19," and added, "We will do our best to prepare quality public jobs in the future."
