To President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea

I have received your letter well.

Reading the president’s letter, which reached me after a long time, I felt deep fraternal affection in every line filled with sincere consolation.

I gratefully accept the warm heart you sent.

I also take this opportunity to convey my genuine feelings without pretense to you, Mr. President, and to the compatriots in the South.

Recently, hearing news of the continuous spread of the malicious virus in your area and the successive typhoon damages, I thought about the heavy burden and the lonely hardship you must be enduring as president, facing challenges that no one else can bear on your behalf.

I believe I understand better than anyone how difficult it must be for you, what pressure you are under, and how tirelessly you are striving to overcome this ordeal.

However, I firmly believe in my heart that with your exceptional dedication to the nation and your people, as well as your strong will and capability, you will surely overcome this crisis.

I convey my sincere feelings to the South, which is experiencing difficulties and pain, and to share and always be with them.

I look forward to the day when these dreadful times of this year will quickly pass and good things will come one after another.

I am always worried that you might forget to take care of your health amid the heavy responsibilities pressing on you.

Please always pay special attention to your health.

And once again, I sincerely hope that the precious health and happiness of the southern compatriots will be protected.

With all my heart, I wish everyone’s well-being.

I pray that President Moon Jae-in and Mrs. Moon will always be healthy and safe.
