[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Public Shopping announced on the 25th that it has published a booklet titled ‘Public Shopping 5th Anniversary Reflected in the Media’ to commemorate the 5th anniversary of its launch. Unlike previous promotional commemorative booklets, this booklet compiles records of Public Shopping’s five years, focusing on criticisms pointed out by various media outlets.
The table of contents categorizes the content into sections such as ‘Criticism, Broadcast Accidents, True Face, Fair Economy, COVID-19, Counterfeits, Dedicated Building,’ overall containing negative articles.
In the foreword, the ‘Five Major Suspicions of Public Shopping’ and ‘Broadcast Interruption Accidents’ criticized during last year’s National Assembly audit are described as the biggest stains.
Public Shopping has been promoting a ‘Transform Emergency Management System’ to overcome past dishonors and challenges. It has established an organizational structure including Sales, Digital Marketing, Broadcast Content, and Management Support divisions, striving to overcome the bleak reality of a cumulative deficit of 40 billion KRW and capital erosion, and to shed the image of being the last among the seven home shopping companies through a ‘Public vs. Non-Public’ framing strategy, focusing on establishing its identity and public nature.
A Public Shopping official said, “In the severe situation of the COVID-19 crisis, Public Shopping fully exercised its public interest by designating official mask sales outlets, implementing the five principles of mask sales, and operating a zero-profit policy for domestically produced masks, marking a turning point through mask sales. This booklet was prepared with the meaning of reflecting on the five years of records criticized and condemned by the media and creating an opportunity for reflection and a new leap forward.”
The booklet consists of two volumes and will be distributed to some institutions including the National Assembly and government ministries.
