[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Junho] An artificial intelligence (AI) startup competition will be held, featuring AI startup ideas in key regional industries such as healthcare, mobility, energy, home appliances, and culture, with a total prize of 234 million KRW.
Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology announced on the 25th that it will host "Dreaming AI," where applicants solve corporate challenges from idea generation to business model establishment.
The competition is conducted in collaboration with overseas companies such as NVIDIA, Intel, and AWS, as well as domestic and international companies like LG Electronics and CJ OliveNetworks, allowing prospective entrepreneurs to experience platforms and data from real business sites while solving corporate issues.
With a total prize of approximately 234 million KRW, it is the largest scale in Korea. In the preliminary round, 32 teams will be selected by evaluating prospective entrepreneurs' AI convergence service demonstration capabilities by category. The preliminary round problems by category include ▲ NVIDIA, using AI GPU technology to predict, minimize, and block the spread of viruses such as COVID-19 ▲ LG Electronics, facial and voice recognition applicable to smart home appliances ▲ Intel, accurate video recognition of objects by drones in flight to specify precise locations on the GUI ▲ AWS, designing autonomous driving algorithms and installing them on DeepRacer simulated vehicles to drive the offline track in the shortest time on the correct route ▲ CJ OliveNetworks, detecting small unit stories in videos, automatic background music generation, and virtual fitting.
In the final round, comprehensive AI convergence service design capabilities and startup/cooperative item verification will be evaluated in a tournament format. Selected outstanding teams will receive benefits such as startup and commercialization consulting, support for prototype production costs, matching with demand companies, and provision of startup spaces.
Applications for the competition can be submitted through the Dreaming AI website by the 9th of next month.
