Ranked 9th Immediately After August Release → Rose to 4th
Top 3 US Sales Are iPhones
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Galaxy Note20 series ranked 4th in U.S. sales during the first week of September, unable to surpass the strong iPhone sales.
According to Counterpoint Research's weekly report on the U.S. smartphone market on the 25th, the Galaxy Note20 Ultra ranked 4th in sales during the first week of September (August 30 - September 5), while the Galaxy Note20 ranked 8th.
The Galaxy Note series was released globally on August 21, ranking 9th in its first week and rising to 4th in the second week, the first week of September. Among premium Android devices released in the U.S., it holds the highest rank. The Galaxy S20 5G also ranked 9th. LG Electronics' mid-range phones, the Style and K51, ranked 7th and 10th respectively.
IT specialist media SamMobile explained, "The Galaxy Note20 lineup has lost sales momentum in the U.S. and will continue to decline unless large-scale promotions are conducted. The Galaxy S20's sales are steadily maintained, contributing to increasing the adoption rate of 5G smartphones."
The iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro Max, and iPhone SE took the 1st to 3rd places respectively. The iPhone 11 has consistently held the top sales position since its release. Despite the anticipation for new models to be released in the fourth quarter, steady sales continue due to ongoing promotions aimed at adjusting inventory in major sales channels such as carriers.
Kang Minsu, an analyst at Counterpoint, said, "Looking at past sales trends, the Note series shows strong momentum after its August release but experiences two sales declines in the fourth quarter: once when Apple's new models are released and again when the new Galaxy S series is launched. With Apple's 5G phone launching this fourth quarter, Samsung is likely to conduct large-scale promotions to defend against a decline in Note sales."
