Vice Minister of Economy: "Corporate Taxi Drivers to Receive 1 Million Won Support Starting Late October"

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Kim Yongbeom, First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, stated, "The support fund of 1 million won for general (corporate) taxi drivers will have detailed plans prepared promptly, with the project announcement in early October and payments starting from the end of October."

Vice Minister Kim made this remark during his opening remarks at the 27th Innovation Growth Strategy Review Meeting and Policy Review Meeting held at the Government Seoul Office on the 25th.

He also announced that an additional budget for 30,000 job-seeker benefits has been secured to proactively respond to prolonged unemployment.

Vice Minister Kim said, "Considering the difficulties of face-to-face contact, we will also make efforts to provide beneficiary-tailored support such as reducing the mandatory number of job-seeking activities and expanding online education."

The government will invest 1.5 trillion won in the employment sector through the 4th supplementary budget to promote employment retention, eliminate blind spots in the employment safety net, support family care and flexible work, and expand job-seeker benefits.

Additionally, the government will provide Tomorrow-Keum jobs for low-income groups who have work ability but are unable to participate in existing self-support projects.

He stated, "We will also promote a special child care support project to alleviate the care burden on parents." This will benefit 6.7 million people.

He added, "The special child care support project will actively utilize the existing delivery system by target group. Payments for preschool children and elementary school students, who have completed prior preparations, will be completed by September 29, before Chuseok. For middle school students, who require new preparations, payments will be made promptly after Chuseok."

Vice Minister Kim emphasized, "The livelihoods of the most vulnerable groups must be guaranteed for a more resilient and sustainable economy. We will do our best to safely overcome this dark period and normalize the economy and daily life."
