[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu City announced on the 24th that it will organize and operate an Emergency Care Situation Team to minimize care gaps caused by COVID-19 infections during the Chuseok holiday period.
The Emergency Care Situation Team will be operated by 20 personnel from Daegu City’s Hope Welfare Division and Daegu Social Service Institute (hereinafter 'Service Institute'), divided into four groups. From the 30th to October 4th, the team will be responsible for linking the activities of the Emergency Care Service Support Group as usual to help care recipients such as children, elderly, and disabled individuals who test positive for COVID-19 or are under self-quarantine during the Chuseok holiday and thus cannot receive existing care services, enabling them to maintain their daily lives.
The Emergency Care Service Support Group was formed in March in response to the initial outbreak of COVID-19. Since then, about 260 personnel have provided over 21,000 care services at more than 570 locations including home care, welfare facilities, and medical institutions.
The support group maintains a standby roster of about 20 emergency care personnel to prepare for any emergencies, and in response to the recent resurgence of COVID-19 mainly in the metropolitan area, plans to secure an additional 30 personnel.
Jo Dong-du, Director of the Welfare Bureau of Daegu City, stated, "We will do our best to provide timely emergency care services during the Chuseok holiday so that citizens can have a healthy and safe holiday."
