Resumption of Flights to Vietnam and Russia

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyungsoo] The air routes from Korea to Vietnam and Russia, which were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, are reopening.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 24th that they have agreed with Vietnam and Russia to operate major routes.

Vietnam has, in principle, blocked entry for Koreans. The government made efforts to restore air routes, including holding a Korea-Vietnam foreign ministers' meeting on the 18th.

According to the agreement, Vietnam Airlines will operate round-trip flights on the Incheon?Hanoi route starting from the 25th, and Korean Air will operate flights to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi on the 25th and 29th, respectively. It was agreed to operate the Incheon?Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh routes twice a week. Asiana Airlines will operate the Ho Chi Minh route starting from the 1st of next month.

However, Vietnam requires a visa along with a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate issued within 3 days.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport agreed with Russian authorities to resume regular flights between Incheon and Moscow after the 27th. By agreement between the two countries, Aeroflot, the Russian state airline, will start operating flights from Incheon to Moscow every Saturday starting from the 3rd of next month. Korean Air will operate flights every Friday starting from the 9th of next month. Both airlines will alternate operating flights to Incheon once a week.
