[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Chosun University and the Chungjang Merchants Association have signed a ‘Partnership Discount Business Agreement’ to take the lead in revitalizing the economy of Chungjang-ro, the old downtown area.
According to Chosun University on the 24th, the ‘Partnership Discount Business Agreement’ held the previous day is part of the collaborative system established with the Chungjang Merchants Association for the ‘2020 Chungjang-ro Revitalization Project’ conducted by the Chosun University LINC+ (Leaders in INdustry-university Cooperation) Project Group’s Chungjang-ro Industry-Academic Cooperation Hub Center.
The signing ceremony was attended by Min Young-don, president of Chosun University, and Kim Chun-sung, head of the LINC+ Project Group, while the Chungjang Merchants Association was represented by Chairman Yeo Geun-su and 29 stores in Chungjang-ro participated.
The participating stores in this agreement are composed of various industries such as clothing, restaurants, and accessories.
Chosun University will actively promote Chungjang-ro affiliated stores to faculty and staff, and the affiliated stores will provide discount benefits to Chosun University faculty and staff, creating an environment for mutual growth.
The affiliated stores agreed to donate a portion of their profits to the university’s industry-academic cooperation self-reliance fund, which supports the education of future generations at Chosun University.
Additionally, a ‘Mentor-Mentee Program’ will be operated as an educational project where master craftsmen in the clothing field who have operated stores in Chungjang-ro for over 30 years will interact with students majoring in Textile and Fashion Design at the College of Arts and Physical Education.
President Min presented plaques indicating the affiliation with Chosun University to the representatives of the affiliated stores, including Chairman Yeo Geun-su.
Afterwards, President Min personally visited ‘Geobugi Angyeong’ (Turtle Glasses), a store owned by Chairman Yeo Geun-su, and purchased sunglasses at a discounted price.
Kim Chun-sung, head of the LINC+ Project Group, said, “The Chungjang-ro Industry-Academic Cooperation Hub Center is a space where the talents and passion of young people are expressed, and it will play a catalytic role in the revival of the Chungjang-ro Renaissance era. Expectations and interest in the center will continue to grow.”
President Min Young-don stated, “We will actively support the revitalization of the local economy in Chungjang-ro and ensure that the Chosun University Chungjang-ro Industry-Academic Cooperation Hub Center fulfills its role so that our students can learn the wisdom and prudence of the merchants.”
Chairman Yeo Geun-su expressed, “We deeply thank Chosun University and the LINC+ Project Group for their wholehearted support and for preparing various programs so that Chungjang-ro can enjoy prosperity once again.”
Meanwhile, the Chosun University LINC+ Project Group started the business agreement for the revitalization of Chungjang-ro with the Chungjang Merchants Association on July 15 and opened the Chungjang-ro Industry-Academic Cooperation Hub Center in Chungjang-ro 1-ga on September 11.
The next projects of the Chungjang-ro Industry-Academic Cooperation Hub Center include the opening of the Chungjang Merchants Graduate School and the Gwangju Youth School around mid-October. The Gwangju Youth School is expected to become a space where local representative youth organizations collaborate and network to learn and share experiences in various fields related to youth policies, jobs, and entrepreneurship.
