[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 24th that it is creating a ‘Forest Products Experience Complex’ around Naejangsan Cultural Plaza with a total investment of 5 billion KRW, including 3.25 billion KRW in national and provincial funds.
Since receiving approval from the Korea Forest Service in 2017 for the ‘Forest Products 6th Industry Complex Development Project,’ the city planned to develop experience programs using Jeongeup’s forest products, promote forest product food, and disseminate cultivation techniques for industrialization of forest products, including the establishment of Chahyang Dawon and Chahyang Culture Center.
Accordingly, after financial investment review, basic planning, and detailed design, the project commenced last year and is scheduled for completion by the end of this year.
The main facilities within the Forest Products Experience Complex include ▲Chahyang Dawon ▲Chahyang Culture Center ▲Forest Products Fragrance Greenhouse ▲Wood Culture Experience Center.
At Chahyang Dawon, a foot bath caf? using bath additives and tea products made from Jeongeup forest products will be operated.
The Chahyang Culture Center is being developed as an experience space for tea ceremony experiences using forest product teas and making forest product foods.
Additionally, a Forest Products Fragrance Greenhouse composed of subtropical plants such as aromatic plants and herbs, along with hydroponic facilities, will also be established.
Mayor Yoo Jin-seop said, “By utilizing Jeongeup’s clean forest products to create diverse experiences and resting spaces with forest products, we aim to extend tourists’ stay time and increase consumption effects,” adding, “We will provide programs that allow visitors to heal their mind and body.”
