Dongdaemun Youth Chamber of Commerce Donates COVID-19 Prevention Masks for Neighbors in Need on the 24th
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) announced that the Seoul Dongdaemun Junior Chamber, celebrating the 10th anniversary of its filial piety event for the elderly, has been delivering masks to neighbors in need within the community.
On the 24th at 11 a.m., a mask handover ceremony was held in the mayor’s office with the attendance of Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, Kwon Yong-sun, President of the Seoul Dongdaemun Junior Chamber, and four other officials.
On this day, the Seoul Dongdaemun Junior Chamber prepared and delivered 20,000 masks to prevent COVID-19 infection.
The Seoul Dongdaemun Junior Chamber has been conducting community projects under the slogan “The Power of Active Youth! Soaring Seoul Dongdaemun JC,” and has continuously engaged in volunteer activities such as holding filial piety banquets for the elderly for 10 years.
Last March, when residents faced difficulties purchasing masks due to the mask shortage, they promoted the “#CheerUp Korea Good Sharing Mask Donation Relay” and distributed 10,000 masks to local residents in a guerrilla-style distribution.
Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “We are grateful to the Seoul Dongdaemun Junior Chamber for their warm kindness during Chuseok, contributing to the development of Dongdaemun through active local activities,” and added, “We will ensure that the delivered masks are properly distributed to neighbors in need within the community.”
