Gyeonggi Office of Education Conducts 'Integrity Education' for Senior Officials

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education conducted online integrity training for 149 high-ranking public officials on the 24th.

This training was organized to enhance the integrity leadership and commitment to integrity practice among high-ranking public officials at grade 4 (or equivalent) and above in the Gyeonggi Office of Education, education support offices, and affiliated institutions.

Lee Sang-hak, co-representative of the Korea Transparency Organization, introduced ▲ the level of corruption perception in Korea ▲ the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act and the Code of Conduct for Public Officials ▲ cases of abuse of power, and integrity literacy during the training.

Lee Jae-jung, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Education, stated, "Following the spirit of non-possession of Monk Beopjeong, the beginning of integrity is to abandon the desire for possession and attachment within oneself."

He continued, "Just as independence activist Lee Seok-young devoted his entire fortune to the independence movement, when society faces difficulties, those who have more should bear greater responsibility and sacrifice; this is noblesse oblige and integrity," and urged, "I ask all high-ranking public officials to take the lead for an integrity-driven Gyeonggi education."

Despite difficulties in holding in-person training due to COVID-19, the Gyeonggi Office of Education has been actively promoting a culture of integrity by conducting an integrity instructor training course in July and online integrity training for head office employees in September.
