Rep. Park: "Anmin Gogae Luge Will Be a Litmus Test for Changwon's Economy... Let's Start the Feasibility Study Immediately"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Choi-hyunju] Park Chun-duk, a member of Changwon City Council (People Power Party), stated on the 24th that a luge should be installed at Anmin Hill and developed into a complex tourist destination.
During a 5-minute speech at the 3rd plenary session held that day, Councilor Park cited the luge and gondola at Ganghwa Seaside Resort as examples to support this claim.
According to Councilor Park, the luge and gondola at Ganghwa Seaside Resort operate with 30 gondolas over a total length of 700 meters up to the observatory, and it is the world's first and only system capable of transporting 2,400 passengers per hour and 1,200 luge sleds simultaneously.
Anmin Hill is considered an optimal location to enjoy the night view of the Changwon area, as hiking trails have been established there. In particular, cherry trees are planted along both sides of the roads in Jinhae Taebaek-dong and Anmin-dong, making it a frequently mentioned spot for family outings and dates in spring.
National Road No. 25, Anmin Hill Road, has lost its function as a connecting road for the region due to the opening of Jangbok Tunnel and Anmin Tunnel, and is currently used as a bicycle and hiking trail.
Councilor Park concluded by saying, “If floor and wall lighting are installed on the Anmin luge, and both sides of the 12 km temporary road are designated into sections with seasonal flowering trees planted continuously in order throughout the four seasons, it will become a representative tourist attraction of the city. I am confident that the Anmin Hill luge will be a cornerstone for revitalizing Changwon’s economy,” urging to start the feasibility study immediately.
