[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] Dong-A Socio Holdings announced on the 24th that it will carry out a ‘Plastic Zero’ campaign. The aim is to reduce the use of disposable products and participate in solving the waste crisis caused by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
According to the company, the Plastic Zero campaign will be implemented sequentially in three stages: ▲ Plastic Zero in the in-house cafe ▲ Plastic Zero within the company ▲ Plastic Zero in daily life.
Plastic Zero in the in-house cafe mandates the use of personal mugs and tumblers instead of disposable plastic cups currently used in the in-house cafe. For takeout, eco-friendly paper cups and paper straws will be provided instead of plastic cups and straws.
Plastic Zero within the company prohibits the use of individual trash bins to prevent indiscriminate disposal of non-segregated waste and places recycling bins in the office. Additionally, to reduce disposable products, the use of disposable items such as paper cups within the office is banned.
Dong-A Socio Holdings regularly conducts resource circulation education for all group employees and plans to expand the campaign to all affiliates and workplaces in the future.
Han Jong-hyun, CEO of Dong-A Socio Holdings, said, "We will strive to reduce the use of disposable products so that an eco-friendly culture can spread throughout the Dong-A Socio Group."
