[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ga-yeon] The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that a total of 58 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) related to Severance Hospital in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul have been identified.
On the 24th, Lee Sang-won, head of the CDCH Epidemiological Investigation and Analysis Team, explained at the regular briefing that "Since the 22nd, 8 additional cases have been confirmed, among which 6 cases occurred at the Somang Community Nursing Home in Pocheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, through contact with confirmed cases related to Severance Hospital." Accordingly, the health authorities estimate the Severance cluster infection as spreading from 'visits to the rehabilitation hospital → community transmission → spread to Somang Community Nursing Home in Pocheon.'
Among the 58 cases identified so far, 44 are related to Severance Hospital, 8 are related to a family in Goyang-si, and 6 are related to Somang Community Nursing Home.
