[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] On the 23rd, at the ‘2020 Local Regulation Innovation Best Practices Competition’ hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Gyeongsangnam-do was honored as Changwon-si received the Grand Prize and Yangsan-si received the Excellence Award, earning financial incentives of 100 million won and 50 million won respectively.


Now in its third year, this competition selected 16 cases of regulatory improvements that helped recover the local economy, which had been weakened by the recent novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), and alleviated inconveniences in citizens’ daily lives.


The Grand Prize-winning case from Changwon-si was titled ‘Overcoming Different Dreams to Open the Blocked Waterway!’, and the Excellence Award-winning case from Yangsan-si was ‘2000 Days of Persuasion to Shorten the Commute by 20 Minutes’.


Kim Duman, Legal Affairs Officer of the province, said, “I feel proud that Gyeongnam has achieved good results in the nationwide regulation innovation best practices. I hope these regulatory reform achievements will spread and be shared nationwide, contributing to improving the quality of life for all of us.” He added, “I also look forward to many excellent regulatory innovation cases being discovered in Gyeongnam in the future.”
