The site of 'Uijeongbu,' a Joseon Dynasty government office located in front of Gwanghwamun in Seoul, has been designated as a national cultural heritage site. This place is the only location among the major government offices that were on the old Yukjo Street (Gwanghwamun Square to Sejong-daero) where traces still remain. On the 24th, the Cultural Heritage Administration announced the designation of 'Uijeongbu Site' in Sejong-ro, Jongno-gu, and 'Geochang Georyeolsanseong (居列山城)' in Gyeongnam, a battleground for territorial expansion between the Silla and Baekje kingdoms during the Three Kingdoms period, as historic sites. Historic Site No. 558, Uijeongbu Site, is a relic of great historical and academic value that allows us to examine the architectural aspects of major government offices during the Joseon Dynasty.
