According to the Wando Coast Guard on the 24th, around 11 p.m. the previous night, Patrol Officers Lee Hyun-cheol and Kim Da-woon of the Wando Police Substation, who were on patrol, discovered Mr. A, who was sitting on the rocky stairs in a drunken state, had fallen into the sea.
Officer Lee Hyun-cheol immediately entered the water to rescue Mr. A, while Officer Kim Da-woon quickly provided life-saving equipment from the shore and transmitted the emergency situation to 119 and others, safely rescuing Mr. A.
After confirming Mr. A’s safety condition, it was found that aside from symptoms of hypothermia, there were no other abnormalities. He was kept warm and handed over to his family, who ensured his safe return home.
Officer Lee Hyun-cheol, who promptly carried out the rescue, said, “To become a strong coast guard officer on site, I have regularly practiced swimming and drowning victim rescue training, which enabled me to respond quickly in an actual situation.” He added, “I will continue to strive for proactive patrols to prevent safety accidents and respond swiftly if they occur.”
