[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Small-scale group infections of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) continue to occur in daycare centers, saunas, and office buildings in the Seoul area.


As of midnight on the 24th, Seoul city announced that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased by 39 from the previous day, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases to 5,095.


The daily new confirmed cases in Seoul had been steadily decreasing from 63 on the 16th of this month to 46, 40, 28, 23, and 21 from the 17th to the 21st, but then rose again to 40 on the 22nd and recorded 39 on the 23rd.


Among the new confirmed cases on this day, 9 additional cases were confirmed at a daycare center in Gangseo-gu, increasing the total related cases to 10. The number of confirmed cases related to the LG Twin Tower in Yeongdeungpo-gu also increased by 3, totaling 5 so far.


The number of confirmed cases related to a sauna in Gwanak-gu increased by 4 from the previous day, totaling 19, and those related to Daewoo Dioville Plus in Gangnam-gu increased by 2, totaling 20.


Additionally, 2 new confirmed cases related to an apartment in Dobong-gu (cumulative 4), 1 related to a gathering of acquaintances in Gwanak-gu (cumulative 12), 1 related to Jongno-gu Office (cumulative 15), and 1 related to K Health Industry in Gangnam-gu (cumulative 36) were reported.


There was 1 confirmed case from contact with confirmed patients from other cities/provinces, 6 from other routes, and 8 cases with routes under investigation.


So far, 4,173 people in Seoul have recovered and been discharged, while 872 are currently in isolation and receiving treatment.
