Ssangyong Motor Signs Industry-Academia Cooperation Agreement with Kookmin University in Design 분야

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Ssangyong Motor announced on the 24th that it has signed an industry-academia cooperation agreement in the design sector with Kookmin University to foster research personnel in the domestic automobile industry and strengthen design competitiveness in the future automobile market.

According to the industry-academia cooperation design research agreement signed this time, Ssangyong Motor's Design Center and Kookmin University's Department of Automotive Transportation Design will jointly conduct research from this month until the end of this year, aiming to derive future concepts for Ssangyong's representative model, the Korando.

To this end, both parties plan to carry out ▲ Ssangyong design analysis ▲ styling concept derivation through brand story and major model analysis ▲ analysis of design trends in the global electric vehicle market. Through this, Ssangyong will build a competitive electric vehicle brand identity reflecting the trends of future key consumer groups, as well as newly develop and inherit its image as a traditional sports utility vehicle (SUV) specialist company.

Ssangyong expects that this design research industry-academia cooperation with Kookmin University will not only nurture automotive design talent but also help discover young and fresh design ideas in line with the rapidly changing design environment and establish the design direction for Ssangyong Motor's future electrified vehicles.

Meanwhile, since 2002, Ssangyong Motor has been donating research and educational training materials to high schools and universities nationwide to foster professional personnel in the domestic automobile industry and expand the dissemination of automotive technology. It has continuously conducted automotive new technology education and maintenance technology seminars for talent development, actively engaging in industry-academia cooperation activities such as providing field training and internship opportunities, sharing technical data and equipment.
