According to the police on the 24th, the Audit Office of the National Police Agency executed a search warrant on the office of the Metropolitan Investigation Unit of the Seoul Police Agency on the 22nd.
The National Police Agency is reportedly investigating suspicions that Officer A, belonging to the Seoul Police Agency, received entertainment in exchange for checking case-related records at the request of the office manager of a lawyer's office, whom he had known before being assigned to the Metropolitan Investigation Unit.
Officer A is known to have been transferred to a police station in the Seoul area immediately after the search and seizure. The police are expected to comprehensively examine whether there was a violation of internal regulations and whether it constitutes a criminal offense.
A National Police Agency official said, "Since the investigation is ongoing, we cannot disclose specific details."
