[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Audi Sport, a subsidiary of Audi AG responsible for the production of high-performance vehicles and related technology development, announced on the 24th that it will introduce a limited edition called the ‘Audi R8 green hell’ to commemorate the success story of the R8 LMS racing car.
The Audi R8 LMS racing car is Audi’s representative racing car that has won the overall championship five times from 2012 to 2019 in the N?rburgring 24 Hours endurance race held at the N?rburgring track, one of the most challenging and simultaneously most popular circuits in the world, nicknamed the ‘Green Hell.’ Audi Sport has developed a production vehicle version of the R8 LMS racing car called the ‘Audi R8 green hell’ edition model and plans to unveil it at this year’s N?rburgring race. The ‘Audi R8 green hell’ edition model will be limited to only 50 units worldwide, each sequentially numbered.
The ‘Audi R8 green hell’ is equipped with a V10 naturally aspirated engine and a 7-speed S tronic transmission, delivering powerful driving performance with a maximum output of 620 horsepower (456 kW). Its top speed is 331 km/h, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.1 seconds, and fuel efficiency is 7.6 l/km based on combined mileage.
The exterior of the ‘Audi R8 green hell’ features a deep Tioman green as the base color, fitting its name. Notably, the doors are engraved with the edition number in a transparent matte finish, reminiscent of a racing car number, and the sides and front windshield feature the gloss black ‘GREEN HELL R8’ logo as standard, completing the intense racing car image. Inside, premium materials such as lightweight bucket seats for the driver and Alcantara on the center panel are used.
