[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Amorepacific (CEO and Chairman Seokyung Bae) announced on the 24th that it has signed a voluntary agreement with the Ministry of Environment to promote the use of high-quality transparent PET bottles as cosmetic containers, contributing to the establishment of a resource-circulating society.
As part of the government innovation task of "strengthening exchanges for public-private cooperation," Amorepacific was selected as the first collaborative company in the cosmetics sector for this agreement.
Amorepacific (Chairman and CEO Seo Kyung-bae) signed a voluntary agreement with the Ministry of Environment on the 23rd to convert PET bottles into cosmetic containers.
The agreement includes Amorepacific's commitment to prioritize the use of recycled materials in the production of containers for its Happy Bath and Primera brands and to continuously strive to expand the use of recycled materials in the future. It also outlines support from the Ministry of Environment, TK Chemical, and the Packaging Recycling Business Mutual Aid Association.
By using high-quality recycled materials that transparently guarantee their origin, the goal is to provide customers with reassurance and quality assurance while contributing to the circular economy through advanced recycling upcycling.
Following the Ministry of Environment's pilot project for separate collection of transparent PET bottles conducted in February, Amorepacific plans to circulate transparent PET bottles collected in Cheonan City through a recycling system into water bottles and cosmetic containers. This is expected to have the effect of transforming three 2-liter water bottles into one 900ml body wash container.
Amorepacific President Saehong Ahn said, "Amorepacific continues to implement a less plastic policy that reduces unnecessary plastic consumption and encourages the use of plastics that are easy to dispose of and recycle. Through this agreement, we will contribute to solving the domestic plastic waste problem and strive to become a model case for expanding the use of domestic recycled materials."
