[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will conduct special inspections of more than 30 public restrooms in stations, terminals, traditional markets, and other locations within the province where an increase in users is expected until the 4th of next month, when the Chuseok holiday ends.
The main inspection items include ▲ compliance with detailed guidelines for 'social distancing in daily life' related to COVID-19 ▲ hygiene and cleanliness status ▲ convenience measures in response to increased users ▲ crime prevention and protection measures for socially vulnerable groups.
The province will first check whether public restrooms are disinfected at least once a day and whether a quarantine management officer is designated in accordance with 'social distancing in daily life' to prevent infectious diseases such as COVID-19, as well as whether 2-meter spacing marks for queuing are displayed at restroom entrances and washbasin floors.
For hygiene and cleanliness management, they will examine whether cleaning, sewage collection, and disinfection cycles have been shortened, and whether convenience items such as soap and tissue are stocked regularly.
For users, inspections will include whether additional temporary or portable restrooms have been installed, whether staff restrooms are open, whether restroom guide signs and waiting line flow markings are installed, and whether infant diaper changing tables and door privacy screens are in place.
Additionally, to ensure safe restroom use, they will check the installation and operation of emergency bells in women's restrooms, CCTV installation and operation, the presence of illegal filming cameras, and the facilities of restrooms for the disabled.
Furthermore, public campaigns will be conducted to encourage closing toilet lids before flushing and washing hands with soap under running water for more than 30 seconds.
Kim Kyung-don, Director of the Water Quality Total Quantity Division at the Provincial Water Resources Headquarters, said, "We will do our best to ensure there is no inconvenience in using public restrooms due to the increase in users during the holiday season," and urged, "Please follow the social distancing guidelines carefully when using restrooms."
