79% of Gyeonggi Residents "Won't Visit Hometown During Chuseok Holiday"

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] It was found that 79% of Gyeonggi Province residents have no plans to visit their hometown during this Chuseok holiday.

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 24th that, as a result of a survey conducted on the 19th targeting 1,000 residents aged 18 and over, 79% of residents responded that they have 'no plans' to visit their hometown during this Chuseok holiday period.

The government has previously urged people to refrain from visiting their hometowns this Chuseok to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Among the residents who answered 'no plans' to visit their hometown, 82% said they would 'rest at home.' This was followed by ▲working or studying (8%) ▲personal hobbies such as movies, performances, and exercise (5%) ▲social activities and travel (1% each).

Accordingly, the province decided to actively respond to the spread of COVID-19 and prevent safety accidents during the holiday period by preparing a 'Chuseok Holiday Comprehensive Plan.'

First, from the 30th of this month to the 4th of next month, the province will establish a 'Chuseok Holiday Comprehensive Situation Room' and an emergency duty system to minimize inconvenience to residents. During the holiday period, inconvenience reports can be made to the '120 Gyeonggi Province Call Center.'

A provincial official urged, "Please refrain from using indoor multi-use facilities such as movie theaters and shopping malls during the Chuseok holiday period as much as possible, and if you do use them, strictly follow quarantine rules such as wearing a mask."

On the 18th of last month, the province issued an administrative order mandating personal mask-wearing for all residents and visitors throughout Gyeonggi Province. Residents and visitors in the province must wear masks indoors and outdoors where multiple people gather.
