Sojinkong Establishes 'Digital Innovation Headquarters'... Organizational Restructuring for 'Rapid Policy Response' Organization Chart of the Small Enterprise and Market Service

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] The Small Enterprise and Market Service (SEMAS) announced on the 24th that it will implement an organizational restructuring to support the digital transformation of small business owners and to strengthen the expertise and independence of its research.

This restructuring is being promoted so that small business owners and traditional markets can adapt to changes in the distribution environment and enhance their competitiveness amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and the accelerated transition to a digital economy. Starting next month on the 1st, the organization will be restructured into 6 headquarters, 22 offices, and 1 research center.

SEMAS will establish a Digital Innovation Headquarters to ensure smooth support for the digital transformation of small business owners and to provide policy backing such as the Korean New Deal. Additionally, the existing Policy Research Headquarters will be made independent as the Small Business Policy Research Center.

The Digital Innovation Headquarters will consist of the Smart Innovation Office, Big Data Office, and Informatization Support Office. It will be fully responsible for supporting the digital transformation of small business owners through managing small business big data, building digital infrastructure such as integrated platforms, and spreading smart technologies.

The Small Business Policy Research Center will secure the expertise and independence of small business research. It will establish an effective policy development foundation to respond to internal and external environmental changes such as post-COVID-19 and the 4th Industrial Revolution.

SEMAS also plans to promote the existing Talent Management Team to the Talent Innovation Office to quickly respond to changes in the policy environment and cultivate talent equipped with digital support capabilities.

Cho Bonghwan, Chairman of SEMAS, said, "This organizational restructuring focuses on strengthening support for the digitalization of small business owners and establishing a research system for effective policy discovery." He added, "The agency will concentrate on supporting small business owners and traditional markets to respond flexibly in the rapidly changing distribution environment."
