Advance Preparation with K-water and Others for Year-round Acceptance of Industrial Water Demand Confirmation
Supporting Investment-attracting Companies through Proactive Administration
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu City (Mayor Kwon Oh-bong) announced on the 23rd that it will accept ‘Industrial Water Demand Confirmation Letters’ year-round from companies planning new or expanded facilities in the Yeosu Industrial Complex to proactively address industrial water supply issues.
Companies newly requiring industrial water can submit the confirmation letter to the city at any time. The city will collect and compile these submissions and regularly coordinate with the Ministry of Environment and the Korea Water Resources Corporation to ensure maximum reflection of the demand.
The city compiles the data by the end of May each year and submits the demand forecasts for the following and subsequent years to the Ministry of Environment and the Korea Water Resources Corporation for prior coordination. This data is also used as reference material for the Basic Water Supply and Sewerage Plan (prepared every 10 years at basic, metropolitan, and national levels, revised every 5 years).
Companies planning new or expanded facilities in the Yeosu National Industrial Complex and other industrial complexes should fill out the industrial water demand confirmation letter with details such as location, project duration, initial demand timing, and demand volume, and submit it as early as possible.
Submission methods include fax, mail, or email. For more details, search for ‘Industrial Water’ in the public notices section on the Yeosu City Hall website.
A city official stated, “We devised the industrial water demand confirmation letter to ensure smooth supply and demand for industrial water, aiming for seamless new and expanded facilities and factory operations,” adding, “We will do our best to build ‘Yeosu, a city friendly to businesses’ through generous support and proactive administration not only for industrial water but also for various investments.”
Meanwhile, Yeosu City is busy preparing a solid industrial foundation by expanding public wastewater treatment facilities by 30,000 tons in anticipation of large-scale new and expanded investments worth 9.5 trillion won by companies in the national industrial complex, and securing 100,000 tons of industrial water per day by next year.
