[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yuk-bong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 23rd that it will implement a ‘Comprehensive Plan for the Chuseok Holiday’ to create a comfortable and safe holiday atmosphere for citizens.

The city will set up and operate a comprehensive situation room at the city hall and 20 eup, myeon, and dong offices from the 30th of this month to the 4th of next month.

The comprehensive situation room is composed of nine teams covering traffic, price stabilization, fuel supply, road restoration, household waste collection, disaster and safety accident response, health and medical care, and handling of civil complaints.

The city plans to minimize citizen inconvenience and eliminate medical service gaps by establishing an emergency medical system in preparation for emergency patients during the Chuseok holiday period.

Naju General Hospital, an emergency medical institution, will operate normally 24 hours a day, and 62 locations including local hospitals, clinics, and holiday-duty pharmacies will be open during the holiday period.

Since operating hours vary by hospital and pharmacy, it is advised to check the Naju City Health Center website in advance or inquire at the emergency medical situation room before visiting.

The health center will operate a 24-hour emergency quarantine task force during the Chuseok holiday period, which will be a critical turning point in COVID-19 quarantine management.

The screening clinic in front of the health center will deploy emergency staff from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for COVID-19 diagnosis and testing.

Currently, in accordance with the Level 2 social distancing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, most indoor and outdoor facilities except Geumseonggwan are restricted from use.

During the Chuseok holiday period, indoor viewing facilities such as Naju Moksanaea, Naju Moksan Culture Center, Naju Student Independence Movement Memorial Hall, Natural Dyeing Museum, Bokaemri Burial Mound Exhibition Hall, and Bitgaram Observatory will also be restricted.

Outdoor facilities such as the Hwangpo Sailboat will not operate due to social distancing measures.

If the social distancing level is adjusted after the 27th, the city plans to open Moksanaea and the Video Theme Park only for outdoor facilities.

Indoor experiences such as lodging at Moksanaea and costume changing at the Video Theme Park will not be operated, and only outdoor facilities such as yards and plazas can be visited under compliance with quarantine rules.

The Yeongsanpo Municipal Library and Bitgaram Municipal Library, currently closed, will not operate.

Mayor Kang In-gyu said, “We will thoroughly prepare sector-specific measures so that this Chuseok holiday does not adversely affect COVID-19 quarantine management,” and added, “Since minimal movement is the basis of quarantine, please refrain from visiting other regions as much as possible and comply with social distancing and personal hygiene rules.”

He continued, “Although it will be difficult for the whole family to gather as in previous years, I hope this holiday will be a warm one in spirit through interest and consideration for neighbors in need.”
