Video of Chinese Strategic Bomber H-6K Bombing Guam Air Force Base
Allegations of Hollywood Movie Plagiarism Including Hurt Locker, The Rock, Transformers
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Jo Young-shin] Claims have been raised that a propaganda video by the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), which appeared to depict an attack on a U.S. military base, plagiarized scenes from Hollywood movies.
Earlier, on the 19th, the PLA posted a video titled "God of War H-6K Launches Attack" on the Air Force account of Weibo, China's version of Twitter, showing a simulated training scene where missiles are dropped on an air force base.
Speculation arose that the target in the video was the Andersen U.S. Air Force Base in Guam, leading to interpretations that it reflected the U.S.-China conflict.
However, CNN reported on the 23rd (local time) that claims have been spreading on social media that the airstrike scenes were a patchwork of clips from several Hollywood movies such as "The Hurt Locker," "The Rock," and "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."
The PLA removed the video on the 22nd, but users who viewed it left critical comments, stating that the video was fake and plagiarized without crediting the original creators.
Andersen U.S. Air Force Base is a key facility for Pacific operations. Until earlier this year, B-1 and B-52 strategic bombers were stationed there alternately, preparing for regional strike missions. Currently, strategic fighters are deployed to prepare for attacks against adversaries.
Meanwhile, the Chinese state-run Global Times reported on the 22nd regarding the video, stating, "If countries like the United States continue to provoke China's sovereignty, security, and national interests, we must consider self-defense through military means," and added, "The video demonstrates China's military capabilities and the determination of the Chinese military."
