[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Jo Young-shin] Taiwanese media reported on the 23rd that Chinese military aircraft entered Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) for the fifth consecutive day, prompting Taiwanese fighter jets to scramble urgently.


According to the Apple Daily and others, Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense announced that two Chinese military Y-8 anti-submarine patrol aircraft again entered the southwestern part of Taiwan's ADIZ the previous day.

Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense mentioned that as two Chinese anti-submarine patrol aircraft entered the southwestern ADIZ, fighter jets were urgently dispatched to respond and repelled them with warning broadcasts.


Additionally, Taiwanese media reported that around 6 a.m. the previous day, a Chinese KJ-500 early warning aircraft conducted patrol flights crossing the median line of the Taiwan Strait between China and Taiwan, and a Chinese H-6 bomber appeared offshore near Lanyu Island in Taitung, eastern Taiwan.


In response to China's military pressure, Taiwan countered by conducting joint air defense drills. The Taiwanese military announced that at dawn the previous day, F-16 fighter jets scrambled from various air bases including Chiayi in the central-western region, along with naval vessels and army Patriot missile units, participated in the joint land, sea, and air "Lianxiang (聯翔) Exercise" conducted as if in actual combat.


Meanwhile, Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen departed from Taipei Songshan Airport on Air Force One the previous morning to visit the Magong base on Penghu Island, commending the efforts of the personnel of the domestically produced IDF (Indigenous Defense Fighter) unit who conduct 24-hour air patrol flights.
