Gwangju Buk-gu to Hold 'Buk-gu Residents' Day' Commemoration Event Online on the 24th

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Moon In) announced on the 23rd that it will hold the ‘2020 Buk-gu Residents' Day’ online commemorative event at 10 a.m. on the 24th in the 3rd-floor conference room of the Buk-gu Office, with about 40 attendees including award recipients, city and district council members, and related organization officials.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Buk-gu’s establishment. After conducting an online preference survey for residents and holding steering committee meetings last year, September 26, the date of the proclamation of the Buk-gu Establishment Decree, was designated as ‘Buk-gu Residents' Day’.

The event will be held online simultaneously for residents of the 28 neighborhoods who cannot participate in person due to COVID-19.

The program includes opening, a challenge thanks to on-site and video participants, viewing a 40-year history video of Buk-gu, awarding the Residents' Award, delivering online congratulatory messages from each neighborhood, and the 2030 Buk-gu Development Plan vision proclamation ceremony.

In particular, Buk-gu will express congratulations and gratitude to the four Residents' Award recipients who contributed to local community development and residents' welfare. During the Development Plan vision proclamation ceremony, the vision of ‘Buk-gu, a Happy Advanced Industrial and Cultural City for Residents’ will be presented, explaining the progress so far and the development plan for the next 10 years.
