"Gift a Home" Hyundai Engineering Launches 'Gift House Campaign Season 6'

Donation of 'Self-Developed Modular Houses' to Disaster Risk Families in Gongju, Chungnam and Wanju, Jeonbuk

"Gift a Home" Hyundai Engineering Launches 'Gift House Campaign Season 6'

[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Hyundai Engineering announced on the 23rd that it donated 'Gift Houses' to disaster-vulnerable households in Gongju-si, Chungnam, and Wanju-gun, Jeonbuk.

Now in its 6th year, the 'Gift House Campaign' is Hyundai Engineering's representative Creating Shared Value (CSV) activity that donates self-developed 'modular houses' to vulnerable households facing disaster risks due to severe housing deterioration. Starting in 2015 in Eumseong, Chungbuk, the campaign has donated 26 Gift Houses across 10 regions nationwide, including Gongju-si and Wanju-gun this time.

The modular houses donated by Hyundai Engineering to disaster-risk households have continuously incorporated improvements over the seasons to enhance convenience. This time, waterproof and anti-slip floor and wall materials that are easy to maintain were applied in the bathroom. An improved model reflecting the requests of previous beneficiaries was donated each year, such as adding built-in wardrobes in the master bedroom.

The 'Gift House Campaign' is supported by Hyundai Motor Group and Hyundai Engineering, which provide sponsorship funds and modular technology; local governments handle basic construction and facility support; and the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association manages project implementation and oversight.

Additionally, the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association shares the necessity of supporting disaster-risk households with the public through SNS campaigns and conducts fundraising. The company stated that over 8,600 members of the public participated in fundraising for Season 6, offering encouragement and support.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Engineering has established a 'Non-Face-to-Face Social Contribution Promotion Plan' in line with the recent social atmosphere emphasizing non-contact and is promoting support activities for marginalized neighbors.

In June, they conducted non-face-to-face social contribution activities using 'Big Walk' and a mobile application, receiving great response as about 1,600 Hyundai Engineering employees donated over 220 million steps in one month. In September, in collaboration with the Seoul Volunteer Center, they also conducted non-face-to-face job mentoring based on the 'Pro Bono' concept for about 50 young people preparing for employment.

A Hyundai Engineering official said, "Through the Gift House Campaign, we provided comfortable and safe living spaces to disaster-risk households," adding, "We will prepare various activities to help neighbors in need non-face-to-face in accordance with the recently changing social contribution paradigm."
