Daejeon City to Expedite Payment of 27.5 Billion KRW for Construction Materials Before Chuseok

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Daejeon city government will expedite the payment of construction, service, and goods fees before Chuseok.

On the 23rd, the city announced that to facilitate early payment, the period required for completion inspection after construction (delivery) completion for construction, services, and goods will be shortened from the current 14 days to within 7 days, and the period from invoice submission to payment will be reduced from 5 days to 3 days.

Additionally, focused inspections will be conducted to prevent delays in subcontractor payments for construction work and wage arrears for construction workers before the Chuseok holiday.

The city has been inspecting the status of subcontractor payments and wage arrears for construction workers since the 14th, and plans to impose administrative sanctions such as fines if improper execution of subcontractor payments is confirmed through the Subcontractor Unfair Practices Reporting Center and other channels.

Jeong Je-eon, head of the city’s accounting department, said, “Considering that local small businesses are struggling due to COVID-19, we will make every effort to expedite payments before Chuseok.”
