[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Chun-hee] Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 23rd that it will begin recruiting tenants for the third quarter of this year's Happy Housing starting from the 24th.
The recruitment targets a total of 3,015 households across eight districts nationwide, including 2,351 households in three metropolitan area complexes such as Goyang Samsong A24, and 664 households in five local area complexes such as Busan Gijang A2 and Gwangju Wolsan.
Notably, this announcement includes exclusive housing for small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) workers and industrial complex-type Happy Housing, in accordance with the government's 'Job-Linked Support Housing Promotion Plan.'
The Goyang Samsong A24 district (947 households) is the first to supply exclusive housing for SME workers. It is a public rental housing designed to help SME workers live close to their workplaces and provide a convenient living environment. Considering various family types, it offers studio units (21㎡) and two-room units (36㎡, 46㎡), along with specialized facilities such as a guest house, business hall, and healing center. It is located a 10-minute walk from Wonheung Station on Seoul Metropolitan Subway Line 3, and nearby Samsong Technovalley is expected to make it popular among SME employees.
The Yeongdong Yongsan district (200 households) will be developed as an industrial complex-type Happy Housing. It is supplied near Yeongdong Industrial Complex, Yongsan Nonggong Complex, and Beophwa Nonggong Complex, and is expected to alleviate housing insecurity for homeless industrial complex workers.
Happy Housing for newlyweds under the Newlywed Hope Town program will also be supplied. These include Siheung Janghyeon A8 district (197 households) and Busan Gijang A2 district (242 households). Siheung Janghyeon A8 district is located 800 meters from Siheung City Hall Station on the Seohae Line, making commuting to Seoul convenient, and transportation conditions are expected to improve further with the opening of the Sinansan Line and Gyeonggang Line. Additionally, an elementary school is located near the district, making it attractive to newlywed couples who want to raise children and live close to their workplaces.
Busan Gijang A2 district is the first Newlywed Hope Town Happy Housing supplied in the Busan area. It is 1.2 km from Gijang Station and adjacent to the Busan Outer Ring Expressway, providing convenient transportation. There are elementary, middle, and high schools nearby, and a national/public daycare center is planned within the complex, offering an excellent educational environment.
Applications will be accepted from the 19th to the 28th of next month through the LH Application Center website and mobile application. The announcement of successful applicants is scheduled for January next year.
LH will also operate on-site applications for internet-vulnerable groups such as the elderly. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the application period has been extended to 10 days to disperse the number of visitors, and quarantine rules such as providing hand sanitizers and maintaining appropriate distancing will be strictly followed.
Applicants can use the 'Happy Housing Self-Diagnosis' on the LH Application Center or My Home Portal before applying to check eligibility based on income and assets. For more details, refer to the LH Application Center announcement or My Home Portal, or contact the My Home Call Center.
