[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Tesla announced that the number of new cars delivered this year will increase by 30-40% compared to the previous year.

On the 22nd (local time), at the 'Battery Day' event held in the parking lot of Tesla's Fremont factory in California, CEO Elon Musk stated, "Due to the expansion of the new factory in China this year, electric vehicle sales will increase significantly."

Tesla's shipment volume recorded 367,500 units last year, and considering this, it is expected to reach around 477,750 to 514,500 units this year.

This aligns with CEO Musk's sales target of 500,000 units for this year.

CEO Musk said, "In 2019, we recorded 50% growth, and we have posted profits for four consecutive quarters up to the second quarter this year," adding, "Despite a very challenging environment this year, we expect to achieve quite good results."

Additionally, on the same day, CEO Musk announced, "Although it is still a beta version, we will unveil a fully autonomous vehicle in a month," signaling the launch of a self-driving car.

Meanwhile, prior to Battery Day, Tesla held its regular shareholders' meeting and approved the reappointment of three inside directors, including CEO Musk. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, shareholders participated in a 'drive-in' format, parking their cars in the Fremont factory parking lot and remaining inside their vehicles during the event.
