[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Korea Gas Safety Corporation announced on the 22nd that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Chungbuk Province and Eumseong County at the Chungbuk Provincial Office to jointly establish the nation's first hydrogen gas safety experience education center in Chungbuk Innovation City.

Through this MOU, detailed implementation matters such as construction budget and operational personnel were stipulated. A cooperative system among the Corporation, Chungbuk Province, and Eumseong County has been established to build the hydrogen gas safety experience education center, which will lead the hydrogen economy and serve as a hub for spreading future energy safety culture.

The experience education center, scheduled for completion in 2022 after site selection, architectural design competition, and exhibition and experience content planning this year, will be utilized as a space for promoting hydrogen energy safety, gas safety experience education, and training hydrogen safety management experts.

Im Haejong, President of the Gas Safety Corporation, stated, "For the government's hydrogen economy activation policy to be successfully implemented, it is essential that accurate awareness of hydrogen safety is spread among the public. Through this agreement, we will create a space where people can directly see and experience the infinite value of hydrogen, safety according to hydrogen's characteristics, and our excellent safety technologies for economically utilizing hydrogen energy, thereby eliminating the public's vague anxieties."

Earlier in June, Chungbuk Innovation City was selected as the final site for the experience education center. The center will be built on a site area of 10,698 square meters with a total building area of 2,475 square meters, consisting of two above-ground floors housing hydrogen and gas safety experience facilities and educational facilities.
