[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] The Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice (CCEJ) criticized Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Hyun-mi as an "incompetent minister who didn't even know the statistics" and called for a complete replacement of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) officials.
On the 22nd, CCEJ stated in a press release, "It has been revealed through media reports that Minister Kim only received and reviewed the statistics from the Korea Appraisal Board showing the lowest real estate price increase rate," criticizing her accordingly.
CCEJ added that it was confirmed through media analysis of the National Assembly Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee's minutes on the 31st of last month that Minister Kim said she was "seeing for the first time" the Korea Appraisal Board's statistics on actual transaction price index, average sale price, and median sale price.
CCEJ pointed out, "If the reports are accurate, it means that MOLIT officials selectively and biasedly reported only the lowest of the six real estate price statistics from the Korea Appraisal Board, and Minister Kim Hyun-mi took their words at face value."
They further emphasized, "President Moon Jae-in must replace the incompetent Minister Kim and the MOLIT officials who are trying to deceive the public immediately. If not, the public will hold President Moon directly responsible for the skyrocketing real estate prices."
