3 Tons of Rice from Dongdaemun-gu Social Welfare Council and 1 Ton of Rice from Nanum Sangnokhoe Delivered to Dongdaemun-gu Office

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor You Deok-yeol) announced on the 22nd that the Dongdaemun-gu Social Welfare Council and Nanum Sangnokhoe (President Ryu Byung-ho) donated rice to help neighbors in need in celebration of Chuseok, the traditional Korean holiday.

The Dongdaemun-gu Social Welfare Council donated 3 tons of rice (10kg × 300 bags, equivalent value 7.8 million KRW), and Nanum Sangnokhoe donated 1 ton of rice (10kg × 100 bags, equivalent value 3 million KRW).

The district plans to distribute the donated rice to low-income residents through 14 community service centers.

The Dongdaemun-gu Social Welfare Council and Nanum Sangnokhoe have been donating rice every year during the holidays since 2005 and 2013, respectively.

You Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, expressed his gratitude, saying, “Even in these difficult times due to COVID-19, I would like to thank the Dongdaemun-gu Social Welfare Council and Nanum Sangnokhoe for not forgetting to donate rice for the underprivileged this holiday season.” He added, “The donated rice will be properly delivered to neighbors in need.”
