[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] The Suncheon City Council (Chairman Heo Yu-in) Urban Construction Committee visited the wind power generation complex located in Baeksu-eup, Yeonggwang-gun during the recess of the 245th extraordinary session the day before.
The visit was conducted to establish Suncheon City's response strategy in line with the government's fine dust reduction policy and Green New Deal policy in the post-nuclear era, and to make rational decisions regarding the enactment and revision of related ordinances.
Chairman Heo Yu-in of the Suncheon City Council, Committee Chair Kim Mi-yeon, and other members of the Urban Construction Committee listened to explanations from wind power facility officials about the project overview, cases where cooperation with residents from the initial construction stage contributed to improving residents' welfare, and examples of overcoming various issues by forming consultative bodies involving business owners and residents. They also engaged in in-depth discussions on noise damage countermeasures and resident support.
Afterwards, they visited the site directly to inspect whether there were any problems caused by low-frequency noise and sound in nearby houses, livestock barns, and other adjacent areas.
Regarding this, Chairman Heo Yu-in stated, “Today's visit was conducted to understand the advantages and accompanying issues of wind power generation as discussions about installing wind power facilities have recently taken place in our city,” and added, “Going forward, the Suncheon City Council plans to carefully review whether to proceed by gathering public opinion from various sectors through public hearings related to this matter.”
