Anyone Interested in ‘Environmental Startups’? … Pukyong National University Runs ‘Startup Program’

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A university is attracting attention by operating an educational program that supports startups in the environmental business sector.

Busan Green Environment Support Center at Pukyong National University (Center Director Jeong Yong-hyeon) has developed and started operating an educational program that supports startups in the environmental field.

The Busan Green Environment Support Center has prepared an online startup education and mentoring program called ‘Busan Regional Startup Green up!’ and is recruiting participants until October 5.

The recruitment target is residents of Busan aged 20 or older who have startup ideas in the fields of ecology, environment, and eco-friendly technology and services. Participation is completely free of charge.

This program, conducted online in a non-face-to-face manner, consists of two courses: ‘Basic Startup Education’ and ‘Basic Startup Education and Environmental Startup Mentoring.’

The ‘Basic Startup Education’ course will be held from October 19 to 30 for a total of 50 trainees, providing startup education content that combines startups and the environment, including prospects in the environmental field, selection of environmental startup items, startup capability analysis, entrepreneurship, and practical training.

The ‘Basic Startup Education and Environmental Startup Mentoring’ course will select five teams and provide opportunities to learn startup know-how from mentors such as prototype production, environmental startup seniors, and consultants from October to November, along with startup education. Each team will also receive startup support funds of around 2 million KRW.

Center Director Jeong Yong-hyeon said, “We hope this program will provide practical startup education to young people who think about the environment and the future, and serve as an opportunity for the voices of startup preparers to be reflected in government policies.”

Applications and inquiries for the program can be made through the Busan Green Environment Support Center website at Pukyong National University or by phone.

The Busan Green Environment Support Center was designated by the Ministry of Environment in 2005 and operates by forming a consortium of industry, academia, government, civil society, and research institutions with Pukyong National University as the lead institution.

It carries out support for the business environment of Busan region companies, research and development on regional issues, and environmental education projects.
