What Makes Gwanak-gu's 'Bang-guseok Humanities Travel' So Popular?

'Bangguseok Humanities Travel Domestic Edition' Gains Over 4,000 Views and Popularity... Untact Era 'Bangguseok Humanities Travel Europe Edition' Launches Youtube Online Channel

What Makes Gwanak-gu's 'Bang-guseok Humanities Travel' So Popular?

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is operating the ‘Gwanak-gu Humanities Support Center’ YouTube lectures, which allow anyone, anytime, anywhere to access various humanities lectures online in this untact era where non-face-to-face interactions have become the norm.

Starting in August, the ‘Bang-guseok Humanities Travel’ series, led by author Park So-young of ‘Online Humanities Travel,’ began with a journey to Gangneung with Korea’s superstar mother and son Shin Saimdang & Yulgok, followed by Jeju with Chusa Kim Jeong-hui, Seoul with poet Yun Dong-ju, and Tongyeong with writer Park Kyung-ni, traveling across the country over four weeks.

The ‘Bang-guseok Humanities Travel Domestic Edition,’ which provided an online healing trip to residents weary from the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, received great interest and love with over 4,000 total views.

Accordingly, the district has launched a European edition YouTube online channel for the ‘Bang-guseok Humanities Travel’ lectures, which connect travel and social distancing?both distant due to COVID-19?through humanities, following the domestic edition.

The lectures, continuing with author Park So-young, will stroll through places that inspired artistic masters and locations where masterpieces were born, filled with easy explanations and interesting stories.

Starting with following Van Gogh’s footsteps in London, England and Paris, France, the journey continues to Arles, France, where he was a very lonely painter; Weimar, Germany, where Goethe created Faust; Rome, Italy, a destination of the Grand Tour; and back to London, England, birthplace of storytelling genius Charles Dickens?accompanying the soul places of beloved artists.

The lectures will be uploaded every two weeks from September 15th in a total of six sessions. You can watch the lectures by searching for ‘Gwanak-gu Humanities Support Center’ on YouTube and subscribing.

Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “We have prepared an online travel experience to offer healing to residents whose minds and bodies are exhausted due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic,” and added, “We will continue to provide various lectures accessible anytime, anywhere, and by anyone through the YouTube channel.”
