Opening of the '23rd Gangseo Saeromi University Online Course'

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) is launching the ‘23rd Gangseo Saeromi University Online Courses’ to allow residents to attend lectures and obtain professional certifications without spatial constraints.

Since 2007, Gangseo Saeromi University has been held once each in the first and second half of the year, but it was not held in the first half of this year due to the spread of COVID-19, leading to many requests from residents for its reopening.

Accordingly, the district will conduct real-time interactive online education using the video application Zoom, replacing the existing offline lectures.

Courses that previously required practical training have been reorganized to enable effective online education.

The curriculum includes eight courses: ▲Career Guidance Counselor ▲Child Psychology Counselor ▲One-person Broadcasting YouTube Creator ▲Natural Healing Counselor (Ear Analysis) ▲Speech Facilitation Instructor ▲Blockchain Manager (CBM) Level 3 ▲Pet Care Manager ▲Professional Organizer Course.

The courses will run from October 19 to December 18, twice a week from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM, totaling 36 hours. However, the Professional Organizer Course will be held from October 26 to December 23.

Each course will recruit 30 students (20 for the Speech course), and the tuition fee is 30,000 KRW (excluding textbook and material fees).

Residents of Gangseo-gu or employees working in Gangseo-gu can apply through the Gangseo Lifelong Learning Center website by October 12.

If the number of applicants exceeds the capacity, a computerized lottery will be held, and courses with less than 30% enrollment may be canceled.

Results of the selection will be individually notified on October 13 and will also be announced on the district’s website.

A district official said, “With the opening of online lectures, students can easily attend classes from convenient locations,” and added, “We hope this opportunity to strengthen capabilities through practical and professional certification education at Saeromi University will be valuable.”
