[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Hannam University will begin accepting applications for the ‘2021 Academic Year Early Admission’ starting from the 23rd.

According to the university on the 22nd, the number of early admission spots is 2,364 students (within the quota), which is 87.1% of the total recruitment, and no minimum CSAT score requirements will be applied to any early admission screening.

Additionally, cross-application across all departments is allowed, and multiple applications between screening types are also permitted.

This year, the selection method for the Student Record Comprehensive Hannam Talent Screening has changed from last year, requiring applicants’ attention. Last year, the Hannam Talent Screening selected candidates by first choosing four times the number of candidates at 100% in the first stage, then combining 70% of the academic score and 30% of the interview score in the second stage to select successful applicants.

However, this year, except for the College of Education, all departments will select successful applicants solely based on documents (100%), simplifying the screening process. This reduces the burden on students who find interviews challenging.

Hannam University’s ‘selection and concentration’ strategy for recruiting talent from the Chungcheong region is also noteworthy. The university will increase the number of students admitted through the ‘Regional Talent Screening,’ which is only open to students from Daejeon, Sejong, Chungnam, and Chungbuk, by 47 students compared to last year, across both the Student Record Comprehensive Screening and Student Record Curriculum Screening.

This year, the number of students admitted through these two screenings will be 400 for the comprehensive screening (a 14.8% increase from the previous year) and 532 for the curriculum screening (a 19.6% increase), totaling 932 students.

Regional talent applicants must be prospective graduates of high schools in the designated regions and must have attended (or graduated from) a high school in the region from admission through graduation.

In particular, graduates from universities located in Daejeon and Chungnam, including Hannam University, will have expanded opportunities for employment at 51 public institutions such as Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL), National Railroad Corporation, Korea Water Resources Corporation, Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, Korea Consumer Agency, and Korea Development Institute, due to the revision of the Innovation City Act. The key point of the Innovation City Act revision is to mandate public institutions to set a quota for hiring graduates from local universities.

Applications for Hannam University’s early admission will be accepted from 9 a.m. on the 23rd until 7 p.m. on the 28th, and related documents such as self-introduction letters must be submitted by 9 p.m. on October 6. The university plans to conduct interviews online and non-face-to-face at a later date.

Eun Woong, Director of Admissions and Public Relations at Hannam University, said, “New students at Hannam University receive focused counseling with professors immediately upon admission and receive one-on-one guidance regarding university life, academic paths, and employment.” He added, “The university is committed to introducing and operating a creative convergence education innovation platform aimed at nurturing convergent talents in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution era.”
