On the 22nd, Apple Korea announced that the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE can be ordered from 3 p.m. on the 23rd via the Apple website and the Apple Store app. They will be available for purchase offline at the Apple Garosugil store and authorized reseller stores starting from the 29th.
Apple stated, "We are excited to introduce the Apple Watch Series 6, featuring innovative health and fitness functions, and the Apple Watch SE, offering a perfect combination of design, features, and price to customers in the Republic of Korea." They added, "Offline stores are implementing various measures such as social distancing to ensure a safe shopping environment, so entry may take some time."
The Apple Watch Series 6 has improved fitness and health features and now supports blood oxygen saturation measurement. It is equipped with the S6 chip based on the A13 Bionic chip used in the iPhone 11, with a 20% performance improvement that speeds up app launch times. The battery life is 18 hours, and a new blue color has been added to the aluminum case lineup. The Product Red Apple Watch and band in red color will also be released. The domestic launch price starts at 539,000 KRW for the GPS model and 659,000 KRW for the GPS + Cellular model. New watch faces, sleep tracking, automatic handwashing detection, and VO2 max health and fitness features available in watchOS 7 can also be used.
The Apple Watch SE is an affordable smartwatch offering core Apple Watch fitness, health, and exercise features. The GPS model starts at 359,000 KRW, and the cellular model starts at 419,000 KRW. The price is similar to the Apple Watch Series 3, but the performance is twice as fast and the screen is 30% larger than the Series 3. Sleep tracking, handwashing detection, and workout measurement features provided in watchOS 7 are available, but blood oxygen saturation measurement is not supported. The Apple Watch SE is released with an aluminum case and is compatible with the new Apple Watch bands launched this time.
